CV-5004     Chinese Temple Candlestick set  This is an exquisite set of candlesticks .They are the largest pair made for an alter in a Chinese Temple in the United States. Made between 1850-1860. These are pewter with gilded panels delicately inset into the pewter candlestick. They may be among the treasures sent by the Emperor of China to his subjects in the New World. He believed because of the lack of temples and ritual objects in the New World that his subjects were being denied access to their Gods. From ground to tip they measure roughly 40" tall, the base is measured 9" x 9" and the actual top candle holder piece is roughly 8 5/8" . This would be an excellent addition to anyone's personal collection.
